Redistribution of Surplus Food in Wales

WRAP Cymru is working with Welsh Government and other stakeholders to identify opportunities to maximise surplus food redistribution and use at various stages of the food production chain including food manufacturing businesses, retail distribution depots, back of

retail store and hospitality and food service businesses. Surplus food redistribution is a priority area for Welsh Government.

To develop and deliver a pilot to reduce food poverty and increase redistribution of food surpluses in Wales from “back-of-store”. This will also help build community cohesion

through strengthening the link between businesses, the third sector and communities;

To use the project as a catalyst for wider engagement with retail and HaFS businesses, the volunteering community and recipient third sector organisations

Deliver a communication piece from the pilot undertaken and a case study to share

findings from the work with others. Also prepare a summary report for the stakeholders.
