Abstract

NHS North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have commissioned a high-quality and effective Referral Management Service for the population of North Tyneside.

The service will receive referrals from General Practitioners within NHS North Tyneside CCG. The service will maintain a log of all referrals received and actions taken so that any individual referral can be tracked as required and data on referrals can be collated and processed.

A range of specialities will include: Rheumatology, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Breast Surgery, Colorectal, Urology, Plastics, Vascular, Gastroenterology and Nephrology. The provider will be expected to be in a position to deliver additional specialities as required by the CCG with 4 weeks notice.

All referrals will go through clinical triage by either an accredited GPSI (GP with Special Interest) or consultant to check that the relating referrals meet the clinical criteria and have been properly worked up in primary care to maximise referral quality and clinical appropriateness. The service provider will follow any criteria or guideline established by the CCG such as clinical pathways.

The Contracting Authority will act in accordance with Regulation 32 and Part 9 of the Public Contract Regulations 2006 (SI 2006 No 5) as Amended by the Public Contract (Amendment) Regulations 2009 (SI 2009 No 2992) Part 9 of these regulations provides for appeals to be made to the High Court subject to the time limitations and other required procedural steps.
