Abstract

The University of Nottingham proposes to invest in a new scholarly information environment to improve the student and researcher library experience and to create more efficient resource management processes.

It will deliver an improved return on the University's £5.5 annual investment in information resources and will contribute to the content and discovery element of an ambitious vision for Digital Learning.

This will:

- improve student satisfaction,

- Improve learning outcomes and academic success,

- better support researchers,

- facilitate a more agile and flexible response to academic needs,

- maximise return on current investment in library materials and staff resource.

The goals will be achieved by a new, more integrated, approach to the discovery and delivery of library curated materials which will better match resources to student and researcher needs. This will be a part of a wider modern integrated solution that will also bring efficiencies and significantly reduce the number of systems currently employed. This in turn will help to create better, more efficient staff workflows across the totality of print and electronic resources.

It will also deliver better analytics to enable the library to more closely align library resources with course and researcher demands. Furthermore it will integrate more fully with university systems such as the VLE and finance.

Such a solution will offer a stable, scalable, secure, supported and cost-effective learning environment across our 3 global campuses.
