Abstract

The contract will be for the demolition of the building known as 48-54 City Road. The building was formerly known as Riley's snooker club and was most recently a furniture store. The building was subject to extensive fire damage in April 2016. Our appointed Structural Engineer has stated that the building should be considered to be condemned, with no easy or obvious way of retaining any significant parts of the building. The entire steel structure is visible and was severely damaged by fire. The roof and floor structures are entirely destroyed. Discussions with the Building Control department at Cardiff Council have taken place and Formal Notice of Demolition has been issued. There are two adjoining properties that share party walls with the subject property. The award process has begun.
