The contract involved is purely for the purpose of research, experiment, study or development under the conditions stated in the Directive
Explanation:
The NIC project has engaged the services of a number of strategic partners to assist with the testing programme. One of these partners is DNV GL for their historical knowledge of hosting and testing gas industry assets and their unique ownership of the Spadeadam testing facilities. The scope of Phase 2 NIC is to expand the test facility build as part of Phase 1b for the original H21 NIC project. This would be best use of gas consumers money with the continued use of the Phase 1b facility
Part of their scope is to utilise the DNV GL site, a site highly experienced in large scale, high volume destructive testing, for the consequence testing with hydrogen at their purpose built facility at Spadeadam. This would include:
— host the extended facility at their testing site at Spadeadam for the network operations testing,
— testing utilising a combination of utilising exist test rigs/areas and building a new facility for the hydrogen,
— provision of DNV GL specialist experienced test engineers to set up and manage the testing.
