Abstract

Bangor University is currently in the process of establishing the Shellfish Centre, a high profile, internationally-recognised and internationally-connected centre for shellfish-related science and innovation that will develop economic opportunities to drive growth in the shellfish sector in Wales. This project is part-funded by the EU’s West Wales and the Valleys European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Operational Programme through the Welsh Government. The Shellfish centre laboratory is looking to establish testing for a range of emerging toxins mainly produced by algae and accumulated in various shellfish. We require a High Performance Liquid Chromatography System for separation, identification and quantification of toxins, with a multi-year service contract. The main method of detection will be fluorescence and UV diode array detection, but with the possibility of adding further detection methods in future such as Mass Spectrometry.
