Total quantity or scope of tender

This fresh produce brand wants to increase product transparency and consumer trust in their products by using a clear, reputable eco labelling system that showcases their environmental credentials.

This project is on behalf of a Welsh produce company that recently launched the first carbon neutral product of its kind and now wishes to commit to further environmental projects. The learnings from this project will work to directly strengthen the brand’s environmental credentials as well as having a broader halo impact on the wider company and other Welsh companies.

The UK food system will need to rapidly and significantly decarbonise in order to meet the UK government’s net zero commitments. Clear communication to consumers about the environmental impact of the food they buy will be vital so that consumers understand the urgency of the situation and demand availability of products that are environmentally focussed.

This project requires full LCA and eco labelling score for up to 11 fresh produce SKUs (including on-pack and more detailed information on-line).

Total quantity or scope of tender:

Time frame: Up to 6 months

The selected partner will be expected to deliver this within a budget of £26,000 (excl VAT, including any membership fees, any labelling fees and any LCA fees).

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Minimum standards and qualification required:

-Mondra and EIT equivalent systems should be used for LCA, in that they both allow two products of the same type to be compared on their individual merits via a complete product LCA, as opposed to using secondary data to estimate the environmental impact of an entire product group.

-Eco Labels should be re-certified yearly as standard practice

-Each label score should link to a detailed assessment including an online link that consumers can follow to find out more detailed information on the product and the scoring method

-High quality data should be used

-Must have proven experience working with food & drink brands in the UK

-Must have proven experience partnering with the largest UK Supermarkets / Retailers

-Must have proven experience partnering with Universities and research organisations

-The Eco Labelling company should use trusted, high quality LCA consultants in order to allow for a price comparison between consultant quotes so that a value for money decision can be made in the knowledge that high quality work will be carried out

-Proven reliability in delivering successful campaigns

-Experienced team with strength in depth

-High value for money
