Abstract

Removal of conifer trees from an area of moorland on the Berwyn (Liberty Hall). This area of moorland forms part of the Berwyn Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Berwyn and South Clwyd Mountains Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and the Berwyn Special Protection Area (SPA). Protected habitats within the proposed work area include European Dry Heath and Blanket Bog. All conifers within the area known as Liberty Hall are to be felled. Additionally, selected Rowan and Birch are also to be cleared in part of the area.

Removal of conifer trees from an area of moorland on the Berwyn (Liberty Hall). This area of moorland forms part of the Berwyn Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Berwyn and South Clwyd Mountains Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and the Berwyn Special Protection Area (SPA). Protected habitats within the proposed work area include European Dry Heath and Blanket Bog.

All conifers within the area known as Liberty Hall are to be felled.

Additionally, selected Rowan and Birch are also to be cleared in part of the area.

Relates to the following project/programme financed by EU Community Funds: Partneriaeth Rhostir Gogledd Cymru / North Wales Moorland Partnership is a community interest company incorporated in March 2019 for the benefit of moorland and associated communities. The Partnership has been awarded a grant by the European Union via the Welsh Government's Sustainable Management Scheme for the collaborative project based in North Wales. The project runs until June 2023 and aims to build on current understanding to: • underpin and plan effective management techniques for the benefit of the species that depend on the moorland • increase the habitat’s resilience to changes in climate • develop understanding of natural capital and the ecosystem services provided.

The Partnership has been awarded a grant by the European Union via the Welsh Government's Sustainable Management Scheme for the collaborative project based in North Wales.
