Abstract

Extra Care Service for older residents in Barking and Dagenham. We see Extra Care as an important part of our offer to older people in the Borough, enabling older people to live as independently as possible in the community, with care and support provided on site and tailored to individual’s needs and preferences through a person-centred, strengths-based approach. We want our Extra Care schemes to be a part of an engaging and lively community in Barking and Dagenham, delivered by an experienced Extra Care provider, with activities that are directed by, and co-produced with the residents who live there. We would like the service to work closely with the community and voluntary sector and link in with facilities and organisations in the Borough and ensure that schemes have robust connections to their locality and make maximum use of the resources available.
