Abstract

This is not an invitation to tender.

London Borough of Newham are working with key partners to review their short break offer, and model going forward. Under the Breaks for Carers of Disabled Children Regulations 2011, local authorities have a statutory duty to provide a range of services to help carers of disabled children continue to provide care or to provide care more effectively which allow them to take short breaks from their caring responsibilities. In Newham, the current short break offer includes holiday and Saturday clubs, and other support is also available to families that offer some form of respite/ short break.

Newham Council are looking to have a more diverse short break offer for families and would like to invite potential providers to a market engagement event on Thursday 4th January 2024 from 11am- 1pm via Teams to:

• provide Newham Council the opportunity to present on what has been working well in Newham and what some of the gaps are including feedback the Council has had from families;

• allow the Council to explain the Dynamic Purchasing System which is currently in place to procure short breaks, and how providers can register if interested in tenders/ requirements for short breaks in Newham;

• help Newham Council understand the interest and appetite to deliver short breaks in Newham by providers (both day and overnight short breaks);

• understand from providers what works well in terms of short breaks delivery with a particular focus on quality and outcomes achieved for families.
