Description of the goods or services required
Transport for Wales (TfW) have instructed Amey Infrastructure Wales (AIW) to undertake an assessment of the condition of the track formation through Caerphilly tunnel due to historic ponding of waters within the tunnel.
The tunnel is located on the Cardiff to Rhymney line (CAR) between 6m06ch and 7m12ch with a length of 1,731m.
Contractors are required to undertake the following works:
1.
Undertake all investigation works to NR/L2/TRK/4239.
2.
Prepare risk assessments and task briefs for the works.
3.
Provide a welfare unit for the works.
4.
Provide security to the compound during out of hours, if required by the contractor.
5.
Provide trolleys for transporting materials/plant to the place of works.
6.
Undertake Automatic Ballast Sampling (ABS) to rock head (assume 1m depth) at 25m centres in both the up and down road. Sampling at both tunnel portals to be undertaken
7.
Obtain laboratory analysis of the samples for the extent of silts within the track formation.
8.
Backfill sampling locations with a sand / cement mix, plus 200mm of ballast under bottom of sleeper, as defined in NR/L2/TRK/4239.
9.
Prepare a factual report.
