Abstract

To develop an approach to modelling the health impacts of economic policies in a Welsh context. For example: - Modelling the fiscal and private returns on investment from improved health due to increased employment (ideally in good, fair work) and changes in tax and benefit policies and uptake of benefits. - Modelling the impacts of policies implemented elsewhere in the UK that might be replicated in Wales, e.g. Scottish Child Payment; - Modelling the impacts of policies in non-devolved areas which have an impact in Wales, such as the winter fuel payments cap; - Modelling the impacts of progressive policies in relation to community wealth building, improving housing conditions, improving gender equity etc. The requirement is to support the creation of architecture for an economic policy model with health outcomes, and support for the Economics & Value team to make use of it.
