Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
The successful tenderer will be required to provide catering services at Hayes School.
Full details in relation to Hayes School may be obtained by visiting:
http://www.hayes.bromley.sch.uk
Students, parents and staff joining Hayes need to commit to ‘would this be outstanding for my child?' and ensuring what the School provides is just that.
The School look forward to seeing the continued progress in academic results, combined with the truly impressive achievements in Art, Drama, Music and Sport (and many other areas) while ensuring no child is left behind or forgotten. Hayes School is an academy that expects all departments and subjects to be outstanding and do not have specialisms.
Hayes School believes:
Everyone wants to succeed – The School needs to provide the means by which this can occur.
We get what we expect – Hayes School have the highest expectations in all areas.
Too often we underestimate ourselves and others - Self-belief and belief in the potential of others is half way to achievement.
Practice and resilience, not innate ability, are the key to achievement - This is reflected in the School's motto "Excellence Through Endeavour”.
The School has a gating policy that only permits Sixth Form students from leaving the premises during the school day.
The School is dedicated to “healthy eating” at a competitive tariff and believes the Healthy Eating Status should be based around a twenty four seven (24/7) ethos. This attitude is to include all vended offers that have to include healthy choices. The School also expects the successful bidder to assist and support their efforts towards Healthy Eating Awards. This would include but not be limited to advising and educating the students re the ranges of healthy food available.
Hayes School would welcome contributions from their successful bidder in areas such as assistance with the Cookery Club, Catering demonstrations etc. A close working relationship between the School and the caterer is seen to be an essential part of the operation.
The School would welcome a pro-active approach from the successful caterer regarding, School events, Language week, Internationalism, Themed weeks/Events linked to curriculum, Samplings, Ready Steady Cook style presentations etc. The School would also welcome innovative solutions and development of alternate / different service areas.
Whilst the School is looking for a financial incentive / return from the catering services, this is not to be to the detriment of the healthy eating ethos generated by the School.
The student and staff population within Hayes School would welcome the opportunity to purchase a selection of Fair Trade produce.
The successful caterer will be expected to fully involve themselves with the School's objectives and would therefore expect close liaison between both parties on a regular basis.
The school presently has a cashless system, managed and maintained by the present caterer. The School wishes to continue with this style of operation and welcomes all suggestions as to how the system might be improved.
In conjunction to the School's healthy eating policy they would also wish the successful caterer to concentrate on “recycling” and would welcome suggestions as to how the packaging of deliveries etc. might be minimised and or recycled.
Hayes School believes that with a resident population of approximately 1 600 students (incl. of Sixth Form) and suitable sales and marketing techniques there is an expectation that the catering services will generate a financially neutral budget with strong potential for a return to the school.
