Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
To provide a full end to end laboratory service for both urgent and routine histology and non-gynaecological cytology, including specimen transportation from Medway NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) pathology department to the Supplier laboratory, processing, electronic and/or paper reporting, attendance in relevant MDMs and provision of a planned and unplanned/urgent frozen section service or alternative. Excluded from the service scope are gynaecological cytology, post-mortems, mortuary arrangements and specimen transportation from GPs to MFT pathology. The contract period will be for 5 years with an option to extend for a further 2 years commencing from 18.6.2016. The Supplier must hold and maintain full accreditation under Clinical Pathology Accreditation UK Limited (CPA) or United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) ISO 15189 standards throughout the term of the contract.
