Abstract

St Mary Magdalene is a Grade I listed church, finished in 1878 located in Paddington in the London borough of Westminster.

The project consists of conservation and refurbishment of the church and upgrade of building services. It is proposed to make use of the currently unused and unserviced basement undercroft as an exhibition and performance space. The vestries in the basement will be converted to office use, and a new vestry will be created in the existing flower room.

In addition, the construction of a new community building, or Heritage Wing, is proposed. The Heritage Wing will be directly linked to the church and will comprise a café, exhibition area/learning space, WC facilities and an office.

The expected value of the project is 3 500 000-3 750 000 GBP, and the works is due to be completed by June 2018.

The client for the contract will be St Mary Magdalene PCC, who are delivering the project in partnership with Paddington Development Trust.
