Abstract

The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a multi-disciplinary research centre based on the world’s most powerful neutron source and is currently under construction at Lund, Sweden. This new facility will be around 30 times brighter than today's leading facilities, enabling new opportunities for researchers in the fields of life sciences, energy, environmental technology, cultural heritage and fundamental physics.

As part of the UK In Kind Contribution, STFC is responsible for delivering 84 tested high-ß dressed elliptical cavities capable of achieving 22.9 MV/m at 704 MHz, with a Qo better than 5 x 109, which will be installed in 21 high-ß cryomodules, 4 cavities per cryomodule.

This tender is for the procurement of the superconducting cavities of the high-ß section at 704.42 MHz of the proton LINAC for the European Spallation Source (ESS).

Cavities are to be equipped with the He-tank and will be produced ready to be RF tested. STFC will provide the Niobium material.

STFC may wish to purchase the following optional extras after initial order placement.

1. 4 additional cavities.

2. 5 additional repetitions of the final BCP

3. 20 additional repetitions of the HPR cycle
