Canolfan Ucheldre - Space for 21st Century Well-being - Artist Development Phase Brief

Description of the goods or services required

Canolfan Ucheldre and De Matos Ryan Architects wish to appoint an artist to work with them to produce an artistic concept which will be integrated coherently and intrinsically into the built fabric of the redevelopment of the arts centre. The Design Team are eager to work with an artist at this early stage in the project’s development to ensure this successful integration. The ambition is to properly embed art into the built project, such as an installation within the Dance or Art Studio/Workshop, and/or hospitality and retail spaces. Ucheldre would like the artist to be an integral member of De Matos Ryan Architects’ Design Team, and they will be contracted within the Design Team. The artist’s contribution is a vital element of the project, and thus it is planned to be a mutual collaboration between all parties.

Ucheldre and De Matos Ryan wish the artist to develop concept design proposals in coordination with the architectural designs of the interior and/or exterior. Detailed designs, and funding for the artwork itself, will follow at a later stage once grants have formally been approved.
