Abstract

The University wishes to appoint a Contractor to design and create a new main entrance to the Carmarthen Campus, to include appropriate signage and other reconfigurations to the current campus arrangements, in order to create a more welcoming, pedestrian friendly approach to the campus. Proposed Scope of Works (including identification of elements requiring Contractor design) to include: • The replacement of the post and rail fence with mature evergreen hedges to both sides of the arrival area, in order to make the area more aesthetically pleasing, and to partially obscure the accommodation units. These are to be set back from the road so they do not conflict with the mature trees already in place. • Install flag poles as symbol of arrival and to formalise the approach. • Form an arrival gateway, with wall / logo design. • Replace road sign with a branded sign. • Create separate vehicle and pedestrian access routes around this access. • Reorganise the parking arrangements currently on campus to accommodate the new access routes. • Relocate the bin store and cabin within the area to the left of the entrance. • Structural Engineering Report. The Contractor is responsible for ensuring that the materials and workmanship in the contract meet the required standards; the Final Certificate or any certificate issued by the Contract Administrator is not intended to and shall not operate as conclusive evidence that any of the work or materials or goods or workmanship conforms to description or is in accordance with the Contract. Planning Permission has been organised by UWTSD. Application No: W/38040 Proposed contract will be the JCT minor works contract
