Provision of Re-roofing at Talywain, Abersychan & Garndiffaith.

Description of the goods or services required

Bron Afon is seeking up to two suitably experienced Principal Contractors to undertake re-roofing works including the replacement of fascia, soffits and rainwater goods. This tender has 2 lots

Lot 1: Talywain Roofing (49 properties)

Lot 2: Garndiffaith & Abersychan Roofing (44 properties)

Contractors may bid for one or both lots.

The existing roof construction consists of either slate (predominantly) or concrete/clay interlocking roof tiles on timber roofing battens and bituminous felt. The roofs contain hips, ridges and have numerous soil vent pipes, flues and chimneys penetrating through them.

A period of 12 weeks has been allocated to complete a single lot. Should the contractor wish to undertake both lots the contract can be extended to 20 weeks.

The tender will be awarded to the Most Economically Advantageous Tender.

The contract will be undertaken using the JCT Minor Work Building Contract 2016 including Bron Afon’s standard prelims and amendments.

Contractors may bid for one or both lots. Please indicate clearly which lot(s) you are tendering for in your response. Should you decide to bid for both lots please answer the quality questions once. In regards to question I3 if applying for both lots please supply two separate proposed programmes.

Under the terms of this contract the successful supplier(s) will be required to deliver Community Benefits in support of the authority’s economic and social objectives. Accordingly, contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations. The Community Benefits included in this contract are:

Bron Afon is committed to contributing to the social, economic and environmental well-being of the wider community. Consequently Community Benefits clauses will be a mandatory contract clause. Therefore, as a minimum requirement, Tenderers will have to agree that community benefits will become part of the contract and as such, a minimum 1% cash donation will be required. This increases to a minimum of 1.5% for contract values in excess of £250,000.

The buyer considers that this contract is suitable for consortia bidding.
