Abstract

Disability Wales/Anabledd Cymru is the national association of disabled people’s organisations in Wales striving to achieve the rights and equality of all disabled people. Disability Wales promotes the adoption and implementation of the Social Model of Disability throughout its work. All contractors are required to work within this model when delivering projects or services on our behalf. The Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Act 2021 places a duty on education leaders, including head teachers, teachers in charge of PRUs and funded non-maintained education providers, to promote knowledge and understanding of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the UNCRDP among those who provide teaching and learning in respect to their school or setting’s curriculum. The purpose of this contract is to: Lot 1: Development of awareness raising materials aimed at the education sector including teachers and headteacher on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Disabled People Produce a suite of accessible resources on the UNCRDP such as: - Training Materials for Education providers this includes a teacher training pack that will introduce providers to the UNCRDP - Provide knowledge and information on key concepts regarding disability rights and equality and how these may be applied within the curriculum and wider education setting. Description of the goods or services required

Disability Wales/Anabledd Cymru is the national association of disabled people’s organisations in Wales striving to achieve the rights and equality of all disabled people.

Disability Wales promotes the adoption and implementation of the Social Model of Disability throughout its work. All contractors are required to work within this model when delivering projects or services on our behalf.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

The applicant must have the knowledge of:

• Knowledge and understanding of UNCRDP

• Knowledge and understanding of the Social Model of Disability

• Knowledge and understanding of the Curriculum in Wales and education sector

• Knowledge of accessible formats required by disabled people

• Knowledge of the types of materials suitable to different age groups

The applicant must the ability to:

• Prioritise workload to meet agreed targets and deadlines.

• Work with and relate to people with a wide range of impairments; particularly, the education system, children and young people.

• Acknowledge and respect the cultural importance of the Welsh Language.

• Participate in a focus group/roundtable to discuss the first draft of materials and make changes accordingly.

- Outline proposal of how you will undertake this work

- Schedule of fees

– Two references - one referee must be from completed work of a similar nature

Please note that DW is a Disabled People’s Organisation and that any exercises involving DW members, Directors and Staff must be designed and facilitated to ensure all can contribute and participate.
