Abstract

Bridgend Town Council has recently purchased a building known as Ty’r Ardd in Sunnyside, Bridgend. The property was originally a day care centre and since 2011 has been used as the BCBC Registry Office and Local and Family History Centre. Bridgend Town Council intend to repurpose the building for use as a Town Hall which will include a public reception area, rooms for community use, staff offices and Council chamber as well as toilets, staff kitchen and Outdoor Maintenance depot. The building must now be reconfigured and building works undertaken to make it fit for purpose. The building works required have been identified and categorised into a number of projects, some of which form part of this brief. The refurbishment has been planned by an architect, M&E company and Quantity Surveyor and Bridgend Town Council is now seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified companies to undertake the work at the property. A series of changes are planned to the building to accommodate its new functions. This will include: • Reconfiguring the building to create a new pedestrian main entrance to the property through the garden on the east side of the building • Reconfiguring the lobby, waiting areas and small offices to create a new reception area and larger offices • Reconfiguring the former reference area and public ICT suite to create a new Council Chamber and offices • Creating a new external ramp and external double door access to the former Strong room which will be repurposed as a maintenance/storage area. Plus associated electrical and heating works. A full tender package will be provided to companies that respond to the Expression of Interest.

• Contractor to provide evidence of at least 3 similar projects complete in the last 2-3years

• References from clients for those schemes

• Company CV of the team and resources

• Contractor to provide insurance for the property and the works for the duration of the works
