Abstract

The University has been successful in obtaining Welsh Government Smart Capital Grant funding, to procure equipment which has to supplied, delivered and paid for before 31st March 2024. We are now looking to award a contract for The Supply & Installation of a Rotor Balancing Machine for the Electrical Propulsion Laboratory at Wrexham University Plas Coch campus. The electrical laboratory will provide a research and development centre for zero emission technologies and facilities for students, researchers & University partners to design, manufacture and test electrical propulsion systems aimed at contributing to a Net Zero Wales and minimising the effects on Climate Change. Wrexham University has been awarded a Welsh Government SMART capital funding bid for the purchase of 1 Rotor Balancing Machine. The grant funding requires any equipment to be supplied, delivered and paid for by no later than the 31st March 2024. Objective The University will work with the winning supplier on a schedule that will enable the supplier to work towards the completion date 31st March 2024. The horizontal rotor balancing machine should be capable of being manually loaded and driven by a manual belt drive. The machine must include a manual machine guard and a free-standing panel with balance information to be shown on a touchscreen panel-mounted monitor. The machine must allow for the ISO 1940-1 balancing of rotors up to 500mm in diameter, 400mm in length and a maximum weight capacity of 10kg. The equipment must have detailed software that provides accurate information on rotor balancing data to identify the position and mass of any remedial addition or removal of rotor materials. The equipment package must include delivery and installation. A minimum 12 months warranty and service provision must be provided Training on equipment and software usage for University staff (maximum 3 people) Potential Value of the Contract The indicative budget for this contract will not exceed £55,468.00 including VAT.
