Abstract

The Vale of Glamorgan Council (“the Council”) requires the design and build of a new playground area located in Buttrills Estate in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. (“the Works”). As part of the enhancement works the Client has identified the requirements of the installation of a new play area for the Buttrills residents.

2.4 Total quantity or scope of tender

The contract consists of the design and build of a new playground area located in Buttrills Estate in Barry. The contract will require the Contractor to undertake the detailed design in-line with the Vale of Glamorgan’s concept design for the playground and the supply and installation of all equipment provided in the approved detailed design.

During the design stage the Client requires the Contractor to provide complete and comprehensively detailed designs for supply and installation of the playground and its associated equipment. The Contractor will be required to identify site-specific constraints that may affect the installation works, and to provide a comprehensive, fully costed Scope and Site Information package for construction and commissioning of the playground on a turn-key basis.

During the construction phase the Contractor shall plan and undertake the installation of the playground and all associated works.

To ensure a full understanding of the Council’s environment, bidders are encouraged to review the Vale of Glamorgan Corporate Plan which is available on the Council’s website www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk.

Bidders are also advised that the Council is interested to know what Community Benefits, such as training or apprenticeship and local labour usage can be realised in association with this agreement. Further information can be obtained at www.prp.wales.gov.uk.
