Description of the goods or services required

This brief invites suitably qualified environmental consultancies to submit proposals to undertake a contaminated sediment and weir risk assessment at a historic weir structure where sediments are known to be contaminated with lead from former mining activity.

The weir is located on a watercourse affected by historic lead mining activity. Sediments impounded upstream of the structure are known or suspected to be contaminated with lead and potentially associated metals. Any future management, modification or removal of the weir must be informed by a robust understanding of sediment contamination, pollution risk, and structural considerations.

Total quantity or scope of tender

-Desk Based Assessment to obtain baseline data, including a site visit to establish access to the weir and the depth of the river upstream of the weir, to ensure that the sediment can be safely sampled.

-Site Investigation including sediment sampling, surface water sampling, LCRM Stage 1 GQRA contamination assessment, waste assessment, and structural inspection of the weir.

-Sediment transport modelling.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Consultants must demonstrate experience in contaminated land, sediment chemistry, historic mining impacts, and river structures. Evidence of relevant qualifications and previous comparable projects should be provided.

Assessment ideally to be provided by end of financial year.
