The Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust required to purchase the Paxman Scalp Cooling System (PSCS) which is a compact mobile refrigeration unit that has been tested to IEC 60601 safety standards for medical devices. The unit circulates a refrigerated liquid coolant, at low pressure, through a special cooling cap that is positioned on the patient’s head. The circulation of the refrigerated coolant through the cap extracts heat from the patient’s scalp and maintains it at the optimum temperature for scalp cooling.

Explanation
The Paxman Scalp Cooling System (PSCS) is available in a dual patient system which allows you to treat 1 patient alone or 2 patients at the same time. This is ideally placed in the middle of treatment chairs and is the type of scalp cooling system that RM require for their busy units. There are no other dual patient refrigerated scalp cooling systems available. We also require a dimension of at least H 640 mm x W 320 mm x D 420 mm, any larger would have an impact of space within the units. Paxman are the only manufacturer of a system this compact in size.
