Abstract

Coordinated cross county delivery of a cohesive marketing programme to enhance economic prosperity along the breadth of the three national ‘Wales Way routes. Bringing together eight Local Authority partners to drive forward awareness of the Wales Way routes and the diversity of adventure, culture and heritage. Encouraging the domestic and international visitor to immerse themselves in our incredible natural landscapes that provide nuggets of pleasure and discovery – from high adrenaline adventure and wonderfully wild explorations to cosy fireside moments and culinary delights. A wealth of experiences, stories and signature products, driving a digital marketing campaign backed up with targeted press and PR, direct consumer advertising and a travel show presence that provide opportunity for direct bookable experiences. Curated with inspiring imagery and videos from new Wales Way content development, creating immersive visitor experiences/unique memories in special places and new stories for the 21st century, linking communities across themes: folklore, adventures, self-discovery etc. Drawing in visitors from the border counties and highlighting opportunities for cut through routes between routes e.g Coastal Way and Cambrian Way. Using the stories of historical travellers to add layers of depth to contemporary product. Creating both place based and thematic discoveries, through the production of a Cambrian Way, Coastal Way and North Wales Way brochures, itineraries and maps.

Relates to the following project/programme financed by EU Community Funds: This project has received funding via the Regional Tourism Engagement Fund (RTEF) and supported through the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Welsh Government; the Fund to improve the visitor experience and create stronger destinations by working together.
