Abstract

Disability Wales / Anabledd Cymru is the national association of disabled people’s organisations in Wales striving to achieve the rights and equality of all disabled people. The EQuip project was formed to collaborate with Disabled Peoples Organisations (DPOs) to create purposeful student placements for young disabled students at Welsh Universities. Disabled people quite often struggle to get into employment due to a lack of work experience as well and negative perceptions and attitudes from employers. This project aims to support students from the start of their career path to get work experience as well as to use case studies from the project to actively campaign against the negative stereotypes and discrimination from potential employers. At the same time, this project aims to improve the capacity of DPOs in their work through the provision of student placements. The evaluator will undertake evaluation of the project and present the results using everyday language. They will evaluate the project against the outcomes as agreed with the funder, including successes and/or barriers
