|
Description of the goods or services required
Staff within the A-STEM Research Centre at Swansea University conduct distinctive, cutting-edge research, which is multidisciplinary in its focus on Elite and Professional Sport, Exercise, Medicine and Health, and Sports Ethics, Integrity and Governance. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF), A-STEM was ranked 5th in the UK for research impact in elite sports performance and anti-doping. A-STEM offers a vibrant cutting-edge environment that invites researchers, students, industry and the third sector to share in their ambition to build on its world-class reputation in sport and exercise science research.
A-STEM is extending its capacity and resource, so is seeking to procure new technologies to enable several of the above drivers to be expanded further. The proposed Wireless IMU-based 3-Dimensional Motion Capture system is a key component of these new technologies, to enable the application of expertise within the Research Centre to newly applied areas of research. As a basic function, the Wireless IMU-based 3-Dimensional Motion Capture system must be able to accurately collect three-dimensional full-body kinematics of a multi-segment system in a field-based environment
