TfGM is looking to establish a contract for Journey Planner Service for TfGM
Greater Manchester has set out its vision for an integrated transport network the Bee Network, which puts customer experience at its heart, including:
Enabling seamless connections across walking, cycling, buses and trams.
clear customer travel information and simple fares and ticketing.
The principles of the Bee Network are to be affordable, reliable, accessible, accountable, and sustainable.
To support the delivery of the Bee Network, we must not only consider how we integrate transport services but also how we serve our customers in a way that meets their needs and enables seamless, safe, and sustainable journeys.
Helping customers to plan how to make a journey is a core part of the customer offer of the Bee Network.
In line with our strategic objectives, the Journey Planning Service is also an important opportunity to encourage the use of Bee Network active travel and public transport modes over making a car journey.
TfGM currently plans to provide a journey planning service on two digital channels; the Bee Network mobile app and the tfgm.com website.
TfGM are seeking to procure:
A UK wide, multi-modal, point-to-point journey planning engine API, enabling TfGM digital channels to send journey planning search inputs, and receive results containing options for how that journey could be made.
A website journey planning user interface which TfGM can embed into its tfgm.com website.
Integration of TfGM and national transport data sets.
An analytics capability enabling TfGM to ingest Journey Planning Service data into a TfGM owned data warehouse or data lake.
Ongoing support and maintenance of the Supplier System.
The Bee Network mobile app is currently in development. The mobile app development team will build a journey planning user interface in the mobile app which integrates with the journey planning engine API.
The tfgm.com website will initially embed the website journey planning user interface into page(s) on the tfgm.com site. It is anticipated that during the lifetime of the contract the website development team will build a journey planning user interface on tfgm.com which integrates with the journey planning API, from which point onwards the website journey planning user interface would no longer be required.
