Abstract

NICOLA (Northern Ireland Cohort for Longitudinal Study of Ageing), Northern Irelands largest public health research project, led by Queens University Belfast, aims to produce a substantial improvement in the quantity and quality of data, research and information relating to older people and ageing in Northern Ireland. The NICOLA study at the Centre for Public Health in Queen’s has secured funding to commencethe third wave of this longitudinal ageing study.There are two previous waves of data collected by a Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) survey. The research is designed to follow Waves 1 & 2 of the NICOLA study and broadly harmonise with other longitudinal ageing surveys undertaken by Trinity College Dublin (The Irish Longitudinal Study of Ageing - TILDA) and by University College London (the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing - ELSA) in their follow up Waves. This wave will target a cohort of 6000 subjects to obtain information in relation to the experiences of ageing together, with a range of other dimensions of lifestyle, health and socio-economic circumstances.

Queen's will be availing of Article 27 (3), Public Contracts Regulations 2015; where a state of urgency duly substantiated by the contracting authority renders impracticable the time limit laid down in the second subparagraph of paragraph 1, it may fix a time limit which shall be not less than 15 days from the date on which the contract notice was sent.
