Abstract

The aim of the service is to move the individual from a position of problematic drugs and/or alcohol misuse, with possible poor physical health status, chaotic lifestyle and criminality to a position of stability, improved health and well-being, employment and positive engagement with the community. This will be informed by the end goals of recovery and abstinence and will include access to a range of service options including treatment, support and rehabilitation. Additionally, the service will be responsible for residential detoxification and rehabilitation placements, services for supervised administration of methadone and needle exchange delivered through community pharmacies and will include a community alcohol pathway. This is an integrated substance misuse service providing a single point of access to all services, which includes assessment and prescribing and recovery services for people over 18 who require support or clinical interventions to enable them to manage reducing their substance misusing and become independent of substances.
