Abstract

Birmingham Airport Ltd, herein referred to as the ‘Airport’, invites applicants to complete a pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ) for a wireless network replacement project; specifically the Airport is looking to procure:

— supply of wireless network hardware,

— installation services.

Install replacement wireless network equipment across the Airport campus, including but not limited to the terminal buildings, Diamond House, Viscount House and Air Traffic Control Tower. Installation across the airfield is to be decided following the results of a survey currently being undertaken.

Sustainable decommissioning ‘end of life’ wireless network equipment:

— network configuration services,

— testing services,

— documentation services:

—— quality management,

—— implementation records,

—— support documentation,

— training and handover services.

The Airport will require applicants to be prepared to liaise with third party organisation appointed by the Airport to support the delivery of the project:

— project management,

— quality assurance,

— Technical Design Authority (TDA).

Further details on the scope of these systems are provided in the project brief below. The purpose of this PQQ is to allow the Airport to identify a number of suitably qualified and experienced applicants who will be invited to submit a tender for this contract opportunity.

When submitting your PQQ ensure that you do not have any embedded documents and that the total number of pages/slides does not exceed 40. Embedded documents will not be looked at. The font used should be no smaller than 11.

The changes to the existing wireless network aim to provide:

— improved wireless network performance and connectivity across the Airport campus,

— increased resilience and security,

— a system design that will manage areas of high contention and allow for the expansion and future development needs of the Airport,

— a management solution that allows better control, separation, and different levels of service,

— 2 separate wireless offerings — Guest (Public) Wi-Fi and Corporate Wi-Fi,

— portal for Guest Wi-Fi access,

— the ability to target marketing and provide commercial opportunities through the provision of Guest Wi-Fi.
