II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Midlothian Council is seeking tenders for the treatment, recovery or disposal of around 8 000 T of approved waste in each year of the contract. No quantities can be fixed or guaranteed since the future quantity is driven by a variable demand. Options as to the proposed method of waste treatment, recovery or disposal are left with the contractor. Such measures may include, but are not limited to:
— processing of waste through a residual materials recovery facility (Residual/Dirty MRF);
— mechanical biological treatment (MBT);
— production of refuse derived fuel (RDF);
— aggregate washing of street sweeping material or any other secondary treatment to remove recyclable materials.
