Abstract

Portley Hill Depot is situated on Ely Road south of Littleport. The property is occupied by East Cambs Trading Company Ltd and East Cambs Street Scene the Councils Parks and Maintenance service and Waste Management Company.

The Council are seeking a Lead Design & Build Contractor for the supply and installation of a new sewage treatment plant to compliment the modification of the existing buried septic tank. The occupied site is in use and required to remain operational throughout the duration of the works. The Contractor should ensure works can be undertaken in a safe and appropriate manner with no impact to the site’s operation. Returns should include a methodology of proposed timings and separation of workspace to facilitate the installation works.

Where a below-ground installation is proposed it is the duty of the Contractor to satisfy themselves any associated excavated material disposal and contamination prevention measures are quantified and included within the bid.

The installation and discharge arrangements must comply with the Environmental Agency’s General Binding Rules for small sewage discharge or obtain a bespoke Environmental Permit for discharge. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to ensure all compliance obligations are being met with appropriate certification obtained.

The sewage treatment plant should comply with all relevant applicable regulations and be BS EN 12566 compliant with the installation in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
