Abstract

Torus has obtained funding from the Social Housing Decarbonation Fund (SHDF) to carry out retrofit and cyclical decoration works to 59 Torus owned properties in Haydock, St.Helens, which have been identified as being in need of improved insulation. A fabric first approach will be adopted, with the works consisting of:-

- External Wall Insulation (or alternative insulation where applicable)

- Ventilation

- Solar PV

- Window and Door Replacement (as required)

- Battery Storage

- Communal Decorations/Rebranding

- Cyclical Decorations

The main aim of the project is to tackle fuel poverty, ensure that all properties are free from damp and mould and achieve a minimum EPC band C rating. This project will contribute significantly to the national target of achieving an 80% reduction in emissions from domestic housing by 2050. SHDF funding conditions stipulate that all works must comply with the PAS2035 retrofit standard, with the installer being required to hold the relevant PAS accreditation. Further, work on this project must be completed by March 2024 meaning that the successful tenderer must be ready and able to mobilise quickly.
