Abstract

The National Library of Wales (NLW) has a long and distinguished history of preserving and providing access to the documentary and cultural heritage of Wales. Through its conservation, preservation, and collections management activities, the Library cares for a diverse range of materials, including archives, manuscripts, books, maps, photographs, and other special collections. As part of its ongoing commitment to improving collection care, increasing efficiency, and ensuring the long-term preservation of its holdings, the Library is seeking to enhance its capacity for the production of archival-quality protective enclosures. The procurement of an automated phase box making machine, or machines, will support the Library’s strategic objective of providing high-quality, cost-effective storage solutions that improve the physical protection and accessibility of collections while reducing manual handling and production times.
