Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

Due to government changes to the Schools Funding Reforms, all centrally retained funding associated with the provision of primary school meals in Lambeth was delegated to schools in April 2013.

The existing school meals contract expires in August 2014, at which point the Local Authority will also delegate all contract management responsibilities to schools and the process of procuring a new school meals contract will be the responsibility of schools.

As a consequence in March 2013 the Lambeth Schools Consortium (LSC) with its appointed Management Committee was formed to manage the impending school meals procurement process and represent the on-going interests of primary schools in Lambeth. The LSC currently represents 40 primary schools, however being voluntary to join, further primary schools in Lambeth may ‘opt in' throughout the tender process.

The LSC intend to award a centrally managed contract for 5 years which will commence from September 2014.

The contract currently comprises of the following Primary Schools, Nursery Schools and Children Centres.
