Abstract

Skipton Town Hall is a prominent building located on the High Street in Skipton, North Yorkshire. It is a Grade II listed building. The Council requires a Professional Team including an AABC Registered Architect and Museum Designer to lead and project manage the refurbishment of the Concert Hall in the Town Hall and the reconfiguration and refurbishment of the back of the building to the completion of RIBA work stage 7. Only 1 lead consultant will be appointed who it is anticipated will sub-contract with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. The back of the building will need to include a museum, gallery, Tourist Information Centre, reconfigured backstage rooms and offices for staff. The designs must be sympathetic with the age of the building whilst being accessible to all and flexible to enable a variety of uses. Concept proposals to RIBA Stage 2 have been prepared and a Heritage Lottery Fund Stage 1 application to fund improvements to the Museum and Gallery area has been awarded a 1st-round pass. This document forms the brief for a suitably experienced team of Consultants to undertake the full delivery of this project, through the development phase, submission of an HLF Stage 2 bid and, subject to funding, implementation (construction), to the opening of the refurbished Craven Museum and Gallery and Concert Hall and associated rooms within Skipton Town Hall. This Pre-Qualification Questionnaire should be completed and returned by all Candidates who wish to participate in the competition to be awarded the consultants contract.
