UK Shared Business Services Ltd as the Contracting
Authority is putting in place a contract for the Natural
Environment Research Council, National Oceanographic Centre. The National Oceanography Centre in Southampton operates two research vessels RRS Discovery and RRS James Cook.
These vessels operate worldwide and require communication services which meet this challenge. Providing service at any longitude and at latitudes approaching the polar regions. The vessels provide a limited internet service to all staff. This service is managed on-board by the technical staff to optimise access to business systems and email.
The satellite connection also provides bandwidth supporting the telephone service from the vessel. Both vessels have a PABX exchange and the primary VSAT service allows four external lines to be served to any internal phone.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement
UK Shared Business Services Ltd as the Contracting Authority is putting in place a contract for the purchase of VSAT Satellite Communications Service for Research Vessels.
The National Oceanography Centre in Southampton operates two research vessels RRS Discovery and RRS James Cook.
These vessels operate worldwide and require communication services which meet this challenge. Providing service at any longitude and at latitudes approaching the polar regions.
The vessels provide a limited internet service to all staff. This service is managed on-board by the technical staff to optimise access to business systems and email.

All submissions will be assessed in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, for procurement values that exceed Regulation 5 (Threshold amounts). This procurement will be managed electronically via the Crown Commercial Service's e-Sourcing Suite. To participate in this procurement participants shall first be registered on the e-Sourcing Suite. If Bidders have not yet

e-Sourcing Suite you will have access to Emptoris email messaging service which facilitates all messages sent to you and from you in relation to any specific RFX event.
