Abstract

AHDB’s Fungicide Performance project on wheat, barley and oilseed rape are consistently rated by levy payers as the projects they value the most after the recommended lists. High quality, independent information on the performance of new and established benchmark fungicides is vital to maintain a competitive UK arable sector.

The project is designed to deliver relevant up to date information to levy payers and as such it is continually evolving in response to changes in the scientific method, fungicide development and changing disease pressures. The successful supplier must be able to offer this flexibility and make a significant contribution to the on-going development of the project and must be able to demonstrate up to date and relevant knowledge of plant pathological methods, fungicide developments and on farm disease management in their proposal.

As well as conducting trials and interpreting the results the successful supplier will be required to undertake a range of knowledge transfer activities, including platform presentations, field demonstrations and liaison with agrochemical manufacturers.

A critical element of the project is the collaboration agrochemical companies supplying fungicides to the arable sector in the UK. They supply unregistered, under development products to the project in anticipation of product registration, in order that a robust set of data is available on product performance at the point of registration.
