Newport City Council (NCC) is inviting tenders from suitably qualified and experienced manufacturers / distributors for the supply and delivery of LED luminaires
The Council currently operates a street lighting stock of 18,519 units (not including sign lights or bollard lights which total 3,835), the number of assets is likely to grow significantly in the coming years as The Council adopt lighting installed as part of new developments.
6,844 of the existing streetlights operate in part night mode, meaning that they are turned off between either 10pm or midnight and 6am to save energy and reduce costs.
At the time of writing 2,945 of The Councils street lighting assets have already been converted to LED, not as part of a specific project, but due to the policy of only replacing failed, or end of life lanterns with LED alternatives. LED improvements to lit signs, bollards and traffic signal lights are also undertaken on a fix on failure basis

3. Responding to the tender
