Queen’s generates a variety of general waste streams across the University campus including general waste, dry mixed recyclables (DMR), food, glass, garden, metal, wood, plastic bottles, cardboard bales and bulky waste. The waste management Contractor will provide all external Eurobins (or equivalent), skips and glass bottle banks for these waste streams across the campus and ensure that regular and ad-hoc collections are completed for each waste stream. The contractor will apply the Waste Hierarchy to recycle and recover as much waste as possible. Aligned with a key contract objective, the contractor will, during the lifetime of the contract, advise and assist on where Queen’s can introduce new practices or processes which will reduce the volume of waste, or processes for certain waste streams that are more sustainable.
