Abstract

Transport for Wales (TfW) exists to drive forward the Welsh Government’s vision of a high quality, safe, integrated, affordable, and accessible transport network that the people of Wales are proud of. A major element of this vision, TfW is investing in a transformational programme of station projects across the Wales and Borders network. The purpose of this speculative notice is to alert the market of a potential upcoming tender opportunity, to be advertised as a sub-threshold Works tender on sell2wales. TfW recognise the pressures facing suppliers in ensuring that they have adequate notice to line up resource to bid for work. TfW therefore want to take this opportunity to provide advance notice of this tender opportunity for Refurbishment works of under-utilised or disused spaces at Pontypridd Station. It is anticipated that TfW will issue the tender over the next two weeks, with an anticipated tender return date during July 2023. TfW has a Social and Commercial Development Plan aimed at bringing under-utilised or disused spaces at stations back into use for social and commercial purposes. TfW are now delivering Phase 2 of the programme which includes Pontypridd station. High level scope is set to include, but not limited to, requiring building fabric refurbishment inclusive of mechanical, civils and electrical works to bring the station buildings back into use. The approximate value range is £60-90k. We anticipate contract award and mobilisation period in August 2023, with an anticipated on-site start date also in August 2023 and anticipated completion date in November 2023. TfW would like to encourage interested suppliers to look out for this opportunity on sell2wales over the coming weeks, and to ensure their sell2wales accounts and alerts/notifications are kept up do date.
