II.1.4) Short description
The Borough Council of Bolton (“the Client”) is prepared to receive tenders for TC005 – Highways Construction Framework 2024 - 2028 which will be subject to the information, specification and tender package enclosed.
The term of this Framework will be for four (4) years. It is intended for this Framework to commence on 1st October 2024.
Terms used in these Instructions shall be deemed to have the meaning afforded to them under the NEC4 suite of documents, unless otherwise indicated.
This Framework has been divided into the following four (4) Lots:
Lot 1- General Civil Engineering Works up to £2.0m, including
• Minor Highway Improvements
• Ducting Works
• Drainage Works
Undertake works included in the programme of Road Safety, junction improvement, Traffic Calming and other minor schemes. Undertake drainage works, including flood prevention works. Undertake civil and ducting works to existing and proposed traffic signal installations throughout Greater Manchester. Typical scheme value - £250,000 to £1,000,000. It is not possible to indicate how many, if any, schemes will be carried out each year.
Lot 2 Patching, Re-Surfacing and Surface Treatment Works up to £2.0m
Undertake Structural Maintenance programmes for classified and unclassified road carriageway and footway schemes. Typical scheme values have ranged between £30,000 and £600,000 with around £3M being spent each year.
Lot 3 Highway New Works, Structural Maintenance and Associated Works up to £5.0m
Undertake works included in the Principal Road Major Maintenance Programme. Undertake new highway works. Typical schemes have averaged £1,500,000 in value in recent years with around four schemes being carried out each year.
Lot 4 Bridges and Highway Structures Improvement and Maintenance Works up to £3.0m
Undertake bridgeworks and highway structures works programme. Average scheme value is £125,000 with 2 or 3 schemes being carried out each year.
The Client anticipates that it will appoint up to (4) Contractors for each Lot, however if the fifth highest marked tender is within 5 points of the fourth highest marked they may be included in the successful tender.
