Description of the goods or services required
The Welsh Fishermen’s Association – Cymdeithas Pysgotwyr Cymru (WFA-CPC) is seeking quotes from suitably qualified and experienced service providers to support the delivery of a pilot project focused on improving mental health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals and families working in the Welsh fishing industry.
This project will be submitted for funding under Section C, Subcategory 4.2 of the [Welsh Marine and Fisheries Scheme] and aims to:
* Promote mental health awareness.
* Tackle social isolation.
* Provide direct health and mental wellbeing support to fishers, aquaculture workers, and their families across Wales.
The programme will be delivered over 9 months as a pilot, ending by March 2026.
WFA-CPC will act as the project enabler and coordinator, providing access to over 800 individuals in the fishing community, but will not receive any project funding themselves.
Services Required – Opportunities for Suppliers to Quote
We invite suppliers to quote for one or more of the following service areas:
1. Mental Health Support Services
* One-to-one counselling or therapy for 15 individuals (up to 10 sessions each).
* Goal: Suicide prevention and crisis support.
2. Mental Health Awareness Campaigns
* Community events or workshops.
* Video or multimedia content tailored to the fishing industry.
* Topics: Mental health stigma, healthy lifestyles, stress management.
3. Health & Wellbeing Events
* To be held at multiple coastal locations:
North Wales: Conwy/Bangor, Pwllheli, Connah’s Quay
West Wales: New Quay, Aberystwyth, Milford Haven, Haverfordwest
South Wales: Swansea, Fishguard
* Partnership working with local NHS and third sector services.
4. Mobile Dental Unit Services
* Provision of a mobile unit and staff for 7 coastal locations.
* Delivery of urgent care, dental checks, cancer screening, and health advice.
5. Physical Health Services
* Physiotherapy support for 15 individuals (up to 8 sessions each).
* Goal: Reduce injuries and support mental wellbeing.
6. Nutritional Awareness (SeaFit Food Hacks)
* Investigation and education around diet at sea.
* Identification of barriers to healthy eating for fishers.
7. Video/Public Awareness Campaign
* Short educational content to highlight the links between mental and physical health for fishing communities.
* Distributed via social media, local networks, and quayside screens.
