Abstract

The council have procured a provider for the provision of specialist overnight short breaks for children with disabilities at The Elms for a term of up to three years.

Cumberland Council is committed to putting health and wellbeing at the heart of everything it does. The Council recognises the importance of the overnight short breaks service in helping to achieve this goal by providing a positive experience for young people whilst also providing a break from care for their primary carers.

The overnight short breaks service aims to prevent family breakdown, ensure young people are safe, nurtured and achieving and to support positive outcomes for young people.

Overnight short breaks will be delivered from the Council owned property The Elms in Workington. The service is required to be available for a minimum of 51 weeks a year and delivered throughout the year, including weekends, school holidays and bank holidays.

The short breaks will be delivered to all children and young people in Cumberland, who have had a social care assessment and have been assessed as in need of the Service.
