Abstract

Gwynedd Council needs to commission a provider to provide Influencing and Persuasion Skills Training to their managers and team leaders. Being able to persuade and influence is a key skill in the workplace. It enables individuals to effectively present ideas, gain support from others and achieve positive outcomes. These skills strengthen collaboration, help build trust, and encourage people to consider new perspectives. By using persuasive methods that are respectful and clear, our managers and leaders can navigate discussions, solve problems more effectively, and contribute to better decisions. Ultimately, being able to positively influence strengthens working relationships and improves personal and team effectiveness. - Cyngor Gwynedd has a bilingual policy (Welsh and English). As a result the Council wishes to appoint a provider who can deliver the training in Welsh and English. However, we will consider English providers if there are no suitable bilingual providers.

- The contract will be for 4 sessions over a period of two years

- The contract will be 2 years long from the date of the pilot

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

The training should build confidence, strengthen communication skills,

and help managers and team leaders handle resistance professionally

while developing stronger working relationships.

Upon completion of the training, individuals should be able to:

- Understand the principles of persuasion and influence, including

how behavior, tone, and message structure affect outcomes.

- Present ideas more effectively, using techniques that explain

benefits, build a strong case and engage listeners.

- Positively influence others in discussions, meetings or situations

where support needs to be secured or a change of perspective

- Adapt communication style to different individuals and situations

in order to increase impact and understanding.

- Deal with opposition or concerns in a respectful and constructive

way, maintaining good working relationships.

- Use appropriate persuasion techniques, ensuring that influence

takes place in a fair, transparent and professional manner

Additional Information

- Cyngor Gwynedd has a bilingual policy (Welsh and English). As a result

- As part of the Council's quality assurance process, awarding any new

contract is dependent on the delivery of successful pilot training. A

quality assurance panel will assess all aspects of the first event against specified criteria.
