Description of the goods or services required
The details of the Contract are specified in the document "Coetiroedd Mawddach Tender.doc". An overview of the Contract is given below:
Produce a set of woodland surveys on the Welsh Government woodland estate (approximately 1360 ha), on Ancient Woodland Sites (AWS) and Plantation on Ancient Woodland Sites (PAWS) in the Coed y Brenin area.
Surveys will be completed following a pre-agreed set methodology and reporting style which was originally conducted in 2016 (see the attached “Coetiroedd Mawddach Surveying Methods – June 2026” document and “Coed y Brenin PAWS survey 2016” Excel document).
Surveys should update the condition and threats of the AWS and PAWS habitats in relation to the 2016 survey.
Management recommendations for stands should be identified and prioritised, with a particular focus on:
Threat removal
Silvicultural improvement
Management recommendations should be based on best practice woodland restoration with practical considerations of access, suitable machinery, and timeframes for proposed works.
As the sites contains significant historic heritage, any physical remains should be documented and considered when recommending work
The methodology and survey reporting style must be followed (as detailed in the “Coetiroedd Mawddach Surveying Methods – June 2026” document) including:
Site survey work and photography
Compilation of the data into GIS or Excel
Map and report production (based on the previous survey work in 2016)
Surveys should be completed by end of December 2026 and reporting to be provided no later than end of January 2027.
The maximum amount of budget for this Tender is £20,000. In your quote please provide details on how many hectares of the proposed survey sites (as detailed in the “Coetiroedd Mawddach Surveying Methods – June 2026” document) you intend to cover in the timeframe and using the methodology stated above.
It should be noted that this work will be completed as part of the Coetiroedd Mawddach National Forest project, funded by the National Forest for Wales. The delivery of the contract will be managed by Natural Resources Wales with input from RSPB and Coed cadw, the Woodland Trust in Wales. Payment for this contract will be made directly from Eryri National Park Authority (ENPA). The successful supplier will therefore need to invoice ENPA directly for the works. Payment details will be included in the Contractor Agreement once the contract is awarded.
