Abstract
The Isle of Anglesey County Council’s Economic Development department is seeking a competent contractor to undertake external fabric repairs and improvement works to existing buildings, including EWI remedials, removal of redundant high-level structures, and associated groundworks and landscaping works across 3 locations within Holyhead Town Centre.
For the purposes of the tender, the sites comprise of:
1. Former Crown site
2. Celtic Gateway Bridge Entrance
3. Market Square
The former Crown site is located on the entrance to Market Street on the one-way road leading into Holyhead Town Centre. The site once compromised of two buildings; the former crown restaurant and the ex-serviceman’s club, which have both since been demolished, allowing for the redevelopment of the site making better use of the land improving the welcome to the town.
Officially opened in 2006, the Celtic Gateway Bridge is a pedestrian and cycle bridge connecting the town centre to the port & train station. 20 years on from it’s opening, the entranceway from the town centre onto the bridge now requires refresh to create an improved entranceway for visitors into the town.
Market Square sits in the centre of the high street, connecting Market Street with Stanley Street and serves as the entranceway to St Cybi’s Church. The area consists of hard landscaping which requires repair to provide a modern centre point and compliment the surrounding area which has undergone major refurbishment in the last 24 months.
