Electrical Installation Works for Spreadable Butter Production Facility
Requirement
Gower View Foods Ltd seeks quotations for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical services associated with the installation of a new spreadable butter production line and associated process equipment.
Scope of Works
The successful contractor shall provide all labour, materials, equipment, testing, certification, and commissioning required to deliver a complete and operational electrical installation.
1. Power Distribution Installation
Design, supply, and install electrical distribution systems and power supplies to serve the following equipment:
• Stainless-steel conveyors
• Tote bin lift
• Z-blade blender
• Butter trolley system
• Butter pump
• Refurbished vertical butter silo and associated installation
• Spreadable butter processing plant
• Pipework and associated systems serving the tub filling machine
• Metal detector
• Case packer
• Clean-in-Place (CIP) system
• Steam boiler
• Chilled water plant
The electrical installation shall include all necessary:
• Distribution boards and protective devices where required
• Power cabling and containment systems
• Local isolation points
• Control wiring and interfaces as required
• Cable trays, trunking, conduit, and support systems
• Equipment terminations and connections
• Earthing and bonding arrangements
2. Electrical Design
The contractor shall:
• Assess the connected electrical loads of all equipment.
• Design electrical distribution systems suitable for the operational requirements of the facility.
• Ensure adequate capacity for starting currents, continuous operation, and future maintenance requirements.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers to ensure compatibility with manufacturer requirements.
3. Lighting Installation
Design, supply, and install a compliant lighting system for the production area.
The lighting installation shall include:
• IP56-rated LED non-corrosive luminaires suitable for food manufacturing environments.
• Emergency lighting facilities incorporating integral emergency battery packs where required.
• Lighting levels appropriate for food processing, production, inspection, cleaning, and maintenance activities.
• Emergency lighting designed to comply with current statutory requirements and relevant British Standards.
4. Testing, Inspection and Certification
The successful contractor shall provide:
• Inspection and testing of all installed electrical systems.
• Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC).
• Emergency lighting testing and commissioning records.
• Distribution schedules and circuit identification documentation.
• As-installed drawings and operation and maintenance information.
5. Standards and Compliance
All works shall comply with:
• BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) latest edition.
• Electricity at Work Regulations.
• Relevant Building Regulations.
• Health and Safety at Work Act requirements.
• Applicable food industry standards and site-specific safety requirements.
6. Commissioning
The contractor shall:
• Commission all electrical installations.
• Verify correct operation of connected equipment power supplies.
• Demonstrate satisfactory operation of lighting and emergency lighting systems.
• Rectify any defects identified during commissioning.
7. Quotation Requirements
Suppliers shall provide:
• A detailed description of the proposed electrical installation.

• Programme and lead time for completion.
